Bangladeshi singer Shaon Chowdhury has recently bagged two international awards. The World Master Organisation Committee in Seoul, South Korea has declared “The World Master Award” in Music (singing category) to singer Shaon Chowdhury on June 21.
Earlier he has been awarded “India-Bangladesh Friendship Award-2011 in Kolkata, India on June 14. Shaon shared the award with Bombay based singer Jojo for the duet number “Likhtey Geley Tomaye Niye Kalom Amar Choley Na”.
Shaon Chowdhury a civil servant, has been training in music for the last 38 years. Currently the singer is learning classical khayal and ghazal under renowned ustad Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury. Under the banner of Impress Audio Vision Limited and Soundtek, Shaon Chowdhury’s several solo albums –“Bhalobasha Bhalo Theko”, “Amar Ichchhey Korey”, “Tomar Akashey” and “Kaal Shararat” are in the market.
Audio cassette company Blueberry has also brought a mixed album titled “Mon Churi” where Shaon recorded songs with noted Bangladeshi singers Runa Laila, Sabina Yasmin, Kanak Chapa, Baby Naznin and SI Tutul and renowned Indian singers Hoimanti Shukla and Jojo.
Under the banner of Blueberry, another mixed album “Mon-e Rekho Prithibi” is in the pipeline. Besides recording a duet song with legendary singer Lata Mungeshkar, Shaon Chowdhury has lent his voice to other duet songs with Asha Bhoshley, Hoimanti Shukla, Alka Yagnik, Mitali Mukherjee and Bangladeshi diva Sabina Yasmin. Noted Bangladeshi lyricists — Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul, Moniruzzaman Monir and Milton Khandakar along with late Indian lyricist Bibeshwar Roy wrote songs for the album.
