Michael Learns To Rock, commonly known as MLTR, will play at a couple of concerts in Bangladesh this October, according to the band’s official website. The Danish pop-soft rock band that performs songs in English, uploaded details about its upcoming autumn tours across the globe where it shares a link regarding the Bangladesh concerts.
“Regarding touring in the Autumn, we know that Bangladesh will happen and we are also looking at opportunities in Nepal, India, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia and many other countries within the next year,” describes the band’s official site www.mltr.dk. The band performed in India last year.
The webpage also contains a poster regarding the Bangladesh concerts with the [possible] show dates and venues along with the title “First Time Ever Live in Bangladesh”. According to the poster, the band will hold a concert in Dhaka on October 6, and another in Chittagong on October 9.
Malaysia based event management company, Inspired Events, will arrange the tour; however, the local organisers are yet to be revealed.
Formed in 1988, MLTR has sold over 11 million records worldwide, mainly in Asia. Their song “Take Me to Your Heart” [which has enjoyed six million or more paid downloads] was awarded “Most downloaded single of the year 2006”.
Its current members are Jascha Richter (main vocalist and keyboardist), Mikkel Lentz (guitarist) and Kåre Wanscher (drummer).
Many of the band’s songs, including “Paint My Love”, “Sleeping Child”, “Love Will Never Lie”, “Strange Foreign Beauty” and “Someday” are hugely popular among Bangladeshi fans.
The band has produced seven studio albums as well as albums featuring live performances and greatest hits, and is currently recording its eighth studio album. MLTR have won many awards and have earned Gold and Platinum status for their records in many countries.
During the peak of their popularity, in the mid-1990s, MLTR have been described by critics to be “as good a band as any current big name group out of America or the UK”.
