The upcoming football season 2013-14 will begin from August 16 and end on June 30 next year, announced Abdus Salam Murshedi, chairman of the
professional league committee after a meeting on Tuesday.
The players’ transfer window for the local footballers will be held from August 16 to September 13 while the deadline has been set to November 15 for the foreign players.
The foreign players’ quota will be unchanged like the ongoing season where each club can register upto seven foreigners but only four will be eligible to play in a match.
The Federation Cup will take place after two weeks of the foreign players’ registration.
The national camp for the SAFF Championship will get underway from July 1 so the league committee decided not to permit the national players for the Kings Cup which is set to be held in the last week of July in Bhutan.
It was still undecided over which two teams
will feature in the tournament. The BFF issued letters to four clubs who expressed their interest to play in this invitational tournament.
Meanwhile, the committee also decided to overturn the previous decision of the BFF executive members who were previously not permitted to enter the field during a match.
‘We had received two letters from two clubs – Mohammedan and Abahani to give permission to the executive committee members to enter the field during match-time. The league committee decided to withdraw the previous decision but any member who wants to enter the field should give a written letter to the BFF,’ said Murshedi.
