The Pakistan national football team will arrive in Dhaka on August 11 to take part in two friendly matches against hosts Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Football Federation confirmed on Tuesday.
There is a possibility that these two teams could end up in the same group at the 10th SAFF Football Championship after the group drawing ceremony on July 31. In spite of this, the BFF decided to go ahead and finalise the scheduling of two practice matches against their sub-continent rivals.
Bangladesh is set to face Pakistan on August 13 and 16.
‘The Pakistan Football Federation gave us a confirmation to play against
the Bangladesh national team in Dhaka,’ said Abu Nayeem Sohag, general secretary of the BFF, on Tuesday.
‘We know that the drawing ceremony of the SAFF Championship will take place on July 31 and that Bangladesh and Pakistan might be in the same group. Despite that, we have decided to host two practice matches against them,’ he added.
The BFF will provide local accommodation and food expenses to the Pakistan team.
Ahead of the SAFF Championship, which will get underway on September 1 in Nepal, the national teams committee is planning to organise more practice matches for the national team.
The national team
will tour Thailand during the last week of
July to feature in two warm-up matches against the hosts.
