The Bangladesh Football Federation has decided to add another Dutch national to the national team staff following head coach Lodewijk de Kruif’s plea for a new goalkeeping coach.
BFF president Kazi Salahuddin revealed on Saturday that they have already contacted an Ajax Amsterdam Youth Academy goalkeeping coach about the position, though he did not disclose the coach’s name.
‘We decided to bring a Dutch goalkeeping coach as per the demand of Lodewijk de Kruif. We have contacted Ajax Amsterdam Youth Academy. We hope he might join us in the coming days,’ Salahuddin said on Saturday, adding, ‘We are not looking for a long-term coach. We will be offering the coach a six-month contract and later may extend the deal according to his performance.’
The BFF president was not certain when the coach might arrive, as negotiations are still at an early stage.
‘I would prefer to see him join the squad sometime in the middle of the Thailand tour if possible, or before the SAFF Championship. By adding a Dutch goalkeeping coach we will complete the Dutch coaching system [for the national team],’ Salahuddin went on to say.
Dutch head coach De Kruif, who is brokering the negotiation between the two parties, said he did not want to rush the deal.
‘We are searching a goalkeeping coach. It’s not that easy to just quit a job within a few days and come over,’ the national team boss said.
‘I want to bring in a goalkeeping coach to educate the goalkeepers we have now and educate goalkeepers in the youth department. It is also very important to educate the goalkeeping coaches on how to give the message to players,’ he added.
