Renaissance is now working on its upcoming album nine years after since the band released its fourth album Ekush Shotoke in 2004.
The band members informed that the album will feature 10 or 12 songs. The band members further told that the unique style developed by the band would be maintained in the album.
But, the title and release date has not yet been finalised. ‘We are now working on three songs. But, we have not set any target to release the album. It will be launched only when we are satisfied with the quality,’ said Pilu Khan, the drummer and vocalist of the band.
‘But, we can assure that like the previous albums, it will also cover romantic and patriotic songs,’ Pilu added.
Commenting on the reason behind not releasing any album for nine years Naquib Khan, the band leader, said, ‘The band members could not make much time required for creating quality music. The slumped trade audio market is also a reason behind the dejection. But, we have been participating in concerts.’
Both Naquib and Pilu, however, hope that the album will give a fresh air in the ongoing turmoil the band music is facing at present.
Naquib khan, his younger brother Pilu Khan and their friends formed Renaissance in 1985, which took the music scene by storm with its first album released in 1988.
The band has developed a unique music style has owned the hearts of the millions of listeners by creating songs such as Bhalo lagey joytsna raate, O Nodirey, Achha keno manushgulo, Hridoy kadamatir kono murti noy, Tumi ki aaj bondhu and others.
Some of the songs raised voices about social and political issues while others were melodious ballads.
Renaissance released a remake album Ekatturer Renaissance in 1998 and subsequently released its fourth album with original Bangla songs in 2004, which was awarded ‘Citycell-Channel-i Music award’ in Band category.
Their current lineup of the band is Reza on lead guitar, Tanim on bass, Imran on vocal and guitar, Hablu on percussion, Pilu Khan on drums and vocal and Naquib Khan on keyboard and vocal.
