Musical soiree held at Gulshan Club
Ustad Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury’s eponymous third solo album was launched on August 23 at Gulshan Club, in the capital. Under the label of G-Series, BRAC Bank has sponsored the album.
Zeeshan Kingshuk Huq, Head of Communication’s Service Quality of BRAC Bank; Ustad Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury; Syed Mahbubur Rahman, managing director and CEO of BRAC Bank; Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan Khaled, owner of G-Series and lyricist Faisal Ahmed formally unveiled the album cover.
The singer and the guests spoke at the event. “Bappa Mazumder is a real talent; he is very amiable by nature. It won’t be an exaggeration if I term him as a Pandit. He has done more that that I had thought of,” said Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury of Bappa Mazumder’s contribution to the album.
The album consists of nine tracks, including “Jhoro Jhoro Brishti Tumi Jhoro Na”, “Choley Gechhe Je”, “Harano Diner Smriti” and “Hridoyer Kanna Shuntey Cheyo Na”. Ustad Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury has penned six songs, while noted lyricists Moniruzzaman Monir, Munshi Wadud and Faisal Ahmed wrote one song each. The singer composed the tunes for all the tracks.
Noted singer-musician and frontman of Dolchhut Bappa Mazumder made an outstanding contribution to the album with his fusion music, tuning classical with modern songs.
“It’s a great honour for me to work for the album. When Ustad Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury demonstrated swar (voice) and produced tune on his surmandals, I fondly recalled my father Pandit Barin Majumdar,” said Bappa Mazumder.
A solo musical soiree by Ustaz Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury followed where the singer performed tracks from his latest album, several ghazals mostly recorded by Ustad Mehdi Hassan and a popular track “Aaj Ei Brishtir Kanna Dekhey” from his first album“Jibonananda”.
The gifted artiste started off with presenting an alap on raga “Yaman” and later sang the initial track “Jhoro Jhoro Brishti Tumi Jhoro Na”. His ghazal repertoire included “”Duniya Kisiki Peyar Mein”, “Yoon Zindegi Ki Raha Mein Takragaya Koi” and “Rafta Rafta”. Ustad Chowdhury also performed another ghazal “Baat Kaar Ni Mujhe Mushkil”, penned by the last Mughal Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar.
