India defenders VR Raghunath and Rupinder Pal Singh shared seven goals between them to rack up a 9-1 win over hapless Bangladesh on Wednesday, setting up a semi-final against
hosts Malaysia in the 9th Asia Cup in Ipoh.
Both the Indian defenders converted three penalty corners each in India’s dominating display, which saw them scoring five goals in the first half and four in the second.
Bangladesh’s consolation goal came in the final minute of the first half through skipper Mamunur Rahman Chayan, who converted their only penalty corner of the match.
Bangladesh, who ended the group phase with three defeats that saw them conceding 22 goals against three scored, will now play against Japan in a play-off match on Friday.
