Jamal, who occupied joint-10th position after the third round’s play on Saturday, could only finish in joint-12th after hitting one-under-par 71 in the final round. He hit four birdies and three bogeys to finish with an overall five-under-par 283.
Courtesy the joint-12th finish, Jamal earned Rs 2,08,213 from a total prize money of Rs 1.35 crore.
Another Bangladeshi participant, Shakhawat Hossain Sohel, ended a disappointing tournament in 53rd position and earned Rs 45,900.
Meanwhile, Anirban Lahiri of India took the top honour after registering an impressive four-shot victory. Lahiri came up with a three-under-69 in the final round of the PGTI’s year-ending event to end the week with a total of 17-under-271. Indian golfer Rahil Gangjee of India finished as runner-up at 13-under-275.
Lahiri was the overnight leader by three strokes
and encountered an early hiccup in the final round as he double-bogeyed after his second shot reflected off a water sprinkler. The 26-year-old Indian golfer then got into his stride with birdies in the fourth, fifth, ninth, 12th, 16th and 17th holes to wrap up his 13th professional title in style.
Lahiri’s putter was on fire as he sank birdie putts from 15 to 20 feet on the fifth, ninth, 16th and 17th holes. He also landed his approach within two feet for a tap-in birdie on the 12th hole. His only error on the back-nine was the bogey on the closing 18th hole.
