Mohammedan Sporting Club escaped with a fine of Taka 20,000 after their fans assaulted the referee following their Bangladesh Premier League match against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
The Bangladesh Football Federation’s disciplinary committee imposed the fine on Mohammedan as their two players, namely Mansur Alam and Yusuf Sifat, entered the ground and attempted to hit referee Abdur Hannan Miron.
The BFF also observed that the club’s ball-boys, Nurul Huda and Mohammed Shahid, abused the referee and tried to assault him while he was returning to the dressing room after the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Referee Miron sent off two Mohammedan players during the match that allowed Sheikh Jamal to score the equaliser in injury time.
The two ball boys were made persona-non-grata during the next five matches of the club. The two Mohammedan players, who entered the field, have only been cautioned.
Among other decisions, the BFF also fined Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra manager Habibur Rahman Tk 10,000 for using abusive language during their match against Muktijoddha Sangsad.
