Supersub Abdullah Parvez gave Team BJMC an incredible injury time 3–2 win over Mohammedan Sporting Club in their Bangladesh Premier League match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday. Parvez came into the field in the 77th minute as a substitute for Shahanur Rahman Rony and changed the match. As his team were trailing 2–1, he provided a left-footed cross to Nigerian team-mate Samson Iliasu to make it 2–2 in the 81st minute.
But the midfielder became the hero in the injury time when he scored the winner with a stunning 40-yard lob which hit under the crossbar before entering into the back of the net.
Although it was a great win for Team BJMC, they remained in the seventh position on the points table with 15 points from 12 matches. On the other hand, Mohammedan, who tasted their first defeat in seven matches remained in the third position with 20 points from same number of matches.
From the beginning of the match, BJMC put pressure on the opponent defence but Mohammedan keeper disappointed them with some brilliant saves.
Mamun Khan produced a super save in the fourth minute as the Mohammedan keeper fisted away Samson Iliasu’s powerful strike from just outside the box after a cutback from Mahadi Hasan Tapu.
Guinean forward Ismael Bangoura put BJMC ahead in the 15th minute by converting from the spot-kick, after he had been brought down by Mohammedan’s Cameroonian defender Bayebeck inside the penalty box.
Mohammedan also restored parity by converting a penalty taken by Demian Chigozi in the 31st minute after BJMC defender Shahanur Rahman Rony had brought Burkina Faso’s forward Zongo Ousseni down inside the box.
Mohammedan marksman Wahed Ahmed put his side ahead just two minutes after the interval by a fumble from a BJMC defender as he snatched the ball from the defender, entered the box and dodged past BJMC keeper before placing the ball into the empty net.
Wahed destroyed a golden chance to double his score in the 57th minute as his striking partner Zingo Ousseni of Burkina Faso provided a neat pass to unmarked Wahed, who entered the box but failed to put the ball into the net.
After the two goals, BJMC coach brought Abdullah Parvez into the field replacing Shahanur Rahman Rony in the 77th minute and that changed the match.
Parvez provided a neat cross from the right in the 81st minute and Samson Iliasu equalised it with a brilliant header.
When the match was going towards a draw, Parvez sealed the victory as the midfielder saw an onrushing Mohammedan keeper Mamun and cleverly hit an outrageous lob that went into the net before hitting under the crossbar.
In the second match of the day, Chittagong Abahani and Uttar Baridhara played out a goalless draw to share the points.
