Newly promoted Uttar Baridhara took a sweet revenge on Team BJMC with a 3-0 victory in their second meeting in the Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday. In the first match on January 20, BJMC had thrashed Baridhara 7-0 but this time they meekly surrendered to Baridhara, who tasted their second victory in the league.The win also gave Baridhara a breathing space in their quest for avoiding relegation as the side moved up to eighth position in the table with 10 points from 13 matches by pushing Feni Soccer to ninth place.
BJMC, who posted a memorable 3-2 victory against Mohammedan Sporting Club in their previous match, failed to continue their fighting spirit as they slipped to seventh place with 15 points.
Baridhara didn’t have to wait long to get the lead as their Kenyan striker Collins Tiego hit the back of the net in the very fourth minute.
Nazrul Islam Sumon delivered a long cross from the right flank that found unmarked Collins who headed into an empty net from the middle of the box.
Indian recruit Faiz Alam failed to double Baridhara lead in the 14th minute when the he saw his placing shot hit the side post after receiving a through pass from Colling.
In the 36th minute, Abdullah Al Parvez, who score the in the last match, saw his powerful strike from inside the box brilliantly saved by Baridhara keeper Osman Gani.
Faiz Alam finally put his name on the score-sheet in the 66th minute when he received a low cross from Khalekur Jaman and placed the ball home past BJMC keeper Himel.
Sujon Biswas put the last nail in the BJMC coffin in 87th minute after calmly placing the ball into the far post after Collins’ initial header was parried by keeper Himel.
