League-leaders Sheikh Jamal Dhanmoni Club will be crowned champions in the Bangladesh Premier League if they manage a draw against their nearest challengers Abahani Limited today. Jamal, who have now 55 points from 24 matches, need just one point to put them in an unassailable position as they are currently 12 points clear of Abahani with just three matches to go.The two teams played out two insipid goalless draws in the previous two legs, but things could be changed this time around with Abahani having no other option but a win to give them an unlikely chance to win the title.
If Jamal fail to take any point from today’s match they will get at least two more chances, against Uttar Baridhara and defending champions Sheikh Russell, who suffered their ninth loss in the league to Team BJMC on Monday
Guinean forward Ismail Bangoura scored twice for BJMC in 17th and 24th minutes before Mithun Chowdhury pulled one goal back for Russell.
The win did not change BJMC’s position in the league table as they remained in the seventh place with 27 points from 25 matches while, Russell are one spot ahead than BJMC with 32 points from same number of matches.
