Bangladesh Under-23 national football team managed a 3-1 win over Bangladesh Army team in an exhibition match arranged as part of their preparation for the forthcoming Asian Games at the Army Stadium on Thursday. The Asian Games-bound Under-23 team led the first half 3-0 thanks to a brace from Hemanta Vincent and a goal by Wahed Ahmed before Sakib pulled one back for the army team.
Aminur Rahman Sajib provided a low cross from the left to Vincent, who coolly placed the ball into the net on 10 minutes and the midfielder doubled the scoreline two minutes later with a solo effort.
Wahed Ahmed made his mark scoring two minute before the break with a volley.
Coach Lodewijk de Kruif made seven changes in the rain-hit second half but was unable to increase the margin.
Kruif expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his charges.
‘We played in a very organised way and the players could apply my plans with the new formation 4-4-2. I’m also happy to see them playing,’ he said.
