The Bangladesh Football Federation in a stunning decision on Sunday banned the technical director Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Maruful Haque, for one year for violating the code of conduct. The professional league committee of the BFF also fined Maruf Tk 30,000 for an alleged remark about some BFF officials during the last Bangladesh Premier League football.Maruf, who guided Sheikh Russell KC to a treble in 2012-13 season, on February 28 crticised the professional football league committee for revising the fixtures of the league allegedly to favour his current club Jamal.
‘His allegation against the BFF president and other officials is a clear violation of BFF code of conduct,’ said league committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedi. ‘He can’t do it. If there is anything to say it is the duty of the club president to speak about the matter.
‘So, he has been suspended from all football activities for one year and fined Tk 30,000.’
It was learnt that the league committee had served a show-cause notice after his remark and in reply he apologised.
Asked if was right to ban him for such a lengthy period when he sought apology, BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag said it was the decision of the disciplinary committee.
The meeting also decided to deduct nine points from Farashganj SC and six points from Wari Club as it was proved that they had played a fixed match with each other on May 21 in the Premier Bank Bangladesh Championship League.
A fine of Tk 5 lakh was also imposed on Farashganj SC while Tk 4 lakh on Wari Club for their involvement in match-fixing.
Besides, some players and officials of the two teams also faced suspension for different terms.
Meanwhile, Agrani Bank and Badda Jagaroni Sangsad were acquitted of the match-fixing allegation as it was not proved.
The meeting also decided to start the 4th version of the Super Cup Football from October 25 and hold the draw for the Under-18 Football Tournament in the first week of September.
The player transfers for the Bangladesh Premier League for the 2014-15 season will be held from November 12 to December 11.
