Renowned sports commentator, footballer and recipient of national sports award Manzur Hasan Mintu died in an Indian hospital on Tuesday. Mintu, 78, was visiting India along with his wife to offer prayer in Ajmeer. The couple reached Jaipur where Mintu collapsed in hotel bathroom and started vomiting, said family. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Mintu is survived by wife and a son.
Born in Khulna, Mintu played football for the Pakistan national team as goalkeeper and received national sports award in 1978. Information minister Hasanul Haque Inu, state minister for youth and sports Biren Sikder and Bangladesh Sports Press Association expressed shock at the death of Mintu.
