The Bangladesh Football Federation has extended the inter-club local players’ transfer window for nearly a month following a request from the Premier League clubs.
The transfer window was supposed to be closed on December 11 but BFF’s Professional Football League Committee on Wednesday said it will not close on January 7.The BFF was forced to take the decision as only 26 players of three clubs completed their transfer formalities till Wednesday.
‘We have changed the closing date of transfer from December 11 to January 7 after most of the clubs came to us with such request,’ BFF’s senior vice president and PFLC chairman Salam Murshedy told reporters.
‘Many of the club players will be engaged with the national team till January 27 and the season will start not before last week of January. So, they requested us to extend the closing date,’ said Murshedy.
The clubs also requested to give them more time to complete the registration formalities to avoid the huge expenses for running the training camp.
‘They said us that if the transfer window closes now, they will have to make some early payments and also to run the camp they will have to spend huge amount of money, added Murshedy.
The window for registration of foreign players will remain open till January 30.
