Mohammedan Sporting Club suffered their second consecutive loss in the Bangladesh Premier League when they were defeated 1-0 by Brothers Union at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday. The Black and Whites, who lost to Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra by same margin in their previous game, were helpless against the consistent pressure from Brothers’ foreign striking duo of Augustine Walson and Kester Akon.
Though Brothers dominated the whole game from the first to the last minute, still they had to wait until the 85th minute to break the deadlock.
They were very close to score when their Haitian forward Augustin Walson’s right footer hit the side post in the stroke of first-half.
Brothers keeper Das Roghu deprived Mohammedan in the 52nd minute as he fisted away a powerful left footed drive from midfielder Imtiaz Sultan Zitu for a corner.
In the 71st minute, Brothers midfielder Jewel Rana’s shot was saved by Mohammedan keeper Mohammad Nehal.
However, Brothers broke the deadlock through Walson five minutes from the stipulated time. Nigerian forward Kester Akon’s shot was saved by Nehal, who dived to his right but Walson side volleyed the ball into net on rebounder.
After the win, Brothers have earned 7 points from 4 matches while Mohammedan remained with their previous earnings of 6 points from the same number of outings.
In the day’s first match, Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society sealed a comfortable 2-0 win over neighbours Farashaganj Sporting Club at the same venue.
Nigerian forward Gideon Solomon put Rahmatganj ahead in the 13th minute by dribbling past two defenders before placing the ball past Farashganj keeper Rafi Rahman.
Nurul Absar doubled the lead in the 33rd minute. Running past his marker, Absar curved a superb shot from outside the top left corner of the box and hit the far post net to make it 2-0.
After the game Rahmatganj have four points from four matches while Farashganj are still to earn a point from same number of games.
