It has been only a year or so since she stepped into the glittering world of cinema, but Porimoni has already made her presence felt. With 17 film projects in her kitty – either in production, or pre-production, or awaiting release – she is on a roll, moving from one set to another. The ‘Dhallywood’s pretty girl’ debuted as a film actress with Bhalobasha Simaheen, which was released only last February. She will be next seen romancing the superstar Shakib Khan in Aro Bhalobashbo Tomay which will be released on Eid-ul-Fitr. Three of her films are currently in production, including Amar Prem Amar Priya, Dhumketu and Nadir Buke Chand. Her upcoming projects include Kichhu Swapno Kichhu Asha, Innocent Love, Pure Jaay Mon, Mohua Sundori and so on. ‘It feels like a dream come true as I could create a space of my own within a very short time. I’m getting many offers, for diverse characters in different types of films,’ Porimoni told New Age. However, the one film that she says she is looking forward to seeing released is Rana Plaza, directed by Nazrul Islam Khan. The film, which has recently got censor clearance but is yet to have a release date, follows the deadly collapse of Rana Plaza in Savar in 2013 that killed about 1,129 apparel industry workers.
‘The film deals with a sensitive issue, and probably this is why the censor board took so much time to give it the go-ahead,’ said Porimoni, adding that she was really excited playing the protagonist in the film. ‘I got injured while shooting since I did not allow any stand-in to act on my behalf. There were several risky shots involving my presence under the debris of a collapsed building.’
‘The crew and my co-stars were really surprised to see my courage. I hope the audience will love the film,’ she said.
Porimoni is ecstatic about her pairing with Shakib Khan in Aro Bhalobashbo Tomay, although Shakib has another film lined up for Eid release. ‘I’m confident that Aro Bhalobashbo Tomay would be a turning point in my career. It has what it takes to be blockbuster, with a unique storyline and superb presentation,’ Porimoni said.
further said she enjoys the competition among the actresses to secure the top position in the industry. ‘This kind of competition is healthy and motivates you to give your best,’ she said.
Recently, the actress has also ventured into modeling, with two TV commercials for Sandalina Sandal Soap and Pran UP. Though she started her career as an actress of teleplays, she says she has no immediate plan to return to the small screen.
‘I am too occupied with my involvement with the film industry to make room for teleplays. Who knows, maybe someday I will work again in teleplays,’ she said.
