Victoria Sporting Club kept their victory run in the Dhaka Premier League as they beat Kalabagan Cricket Academy by five wickets at BKSP on Monday.
Victoria, lacking star players and estimated as a below ranked side before the tournament, made a combined effort with both bat and bowl to reach 266-5 in 48.1 overs after restricted KCA for 263-6 after winning the toss.
With this win Victoria now have five points from three matches, lost just one point due to a last ball tie against Legends of Rupganj, who made an unbelievable comeback at the same ground on April 24.
Although the chase was a combined effort, but opener Abdul Mazid, who scored a half century in their previous match against Mohammedan, held the innings together with his 69 off 92 balls.
He got good support from Mominul Haque (35) to build a 62-run stand but it was Al-Amin, who scored a century against Rupganj, made the highest partnership of 81 in the third wicket to put their side into a vantage point.
Al-Amin, who got a wicket while bowling was finally got out for 54, but his 52-ball innings was good enough to help him secure the man of the match award.
Nadif Chowdhury (29 not out) and Dhiman Ghosh (32 not out) steered their side home with an unbroken 64-run partnership in sixth wicket off 69 balls.
Earlier in the day KCA openers made a solid opening stand of 81 runs and even though Myshukur Rahman was dismissed for 27 but his partner Irfan Sukkur scored highest 88 run of the match.
Former under-19 skipper Mehedi Hasan Miraz made 51 off just 44 balls and Nuruzzaman’s 30 off 25 helped KKC put 260 plus on the board, though it was not enough in the end to prevent their third consecutive defeat in the league.
Left-arm spinner Sohrawardi Shuvo claimed two wickets for 20 runs in his seven overs to keep the KCA batsman in check. His exploit made Shorwardi second highest wicket taker in the league with seven scalps from three matches.
