Usha Krira Chakra, the joint champions in the last edition, made a winning start to the Green Delta Insurance Premier Hockey League when they outplayed Wari Club 4-1 on Friday.
Usha went to the break at the Maulana Bhasani National National Hockey Stadium with a 2-0 lead and added other two in the later half while Wari pulled one goal back in the second half.
Mahbub Hossain put Usha ahead in the 22nd minute with a strike from penalty corner and Krishna doubled the lead a minute before the break.
Sihan reduced the margin for Wari in the 52nd minute but national forward Hasan Jubair Niloy made it 3-1 with a nice field goal at the hour mark.
Usha midfielder Nayeem Uddin completed the rout with a last minute strike.
The league got underway on Thursday with the participations of 12 teams. Abahani Limited, who shared the trophy with Usha in the last edition, thrashed Bangladesh Railway 14-0 in the opening match.
