The government has put forward 14 distinguished individuals and the national women’s football team for the Ekushey Padak in 2025, honoring their remarkable contributions in their respective fields.
The cultural affairs ministry announced this on Thursday.
The nominees include Azizur Rahman (posthumously) for film, Ustad Nirad Baran Barua (posthumously) and Ferdous Ara for music, Nasir Ali Mamun for photography, Rokeya Sultana for painting, Mahfuz Ullah (posthumously) for journalism, Mahmudur Rahman for journalism and human rights, Shahidul Alam for culture and education, Niaz Zaman for education, Mehedi Hasan Khan for science and technology, Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury (posthumously) for social service, Helal Hafiz (posthumously) and Shahidul Zahir (posthumously) for language and literature, and Moidul Hasan for research.
The Ekushey Padak is Bangladesh’s second-highest civilian award, presented annually to individuals and organizations for their exceptional contributions across various fields.
