Abahani Limited are in desperate need to win their today’s final group match against Mongolian champions Erchim FC in the AFC President’s Cup qualifiers at the
Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu, Nepal.
With two draws in the previous two matches, Abahani now have a good chance of going through to the final round. A win over Erchim FC will see Abahani qualify while a draw will also be enough for them if the host nation’s Three Star Club beat Taiwan Power Company in their last match today.
But Abahani will take to the field aiming for a win because they will face Erchim in the day’s first match at 3:25pm before the Three Star-Power Company match.
Amalesh Sen, the assistant coach of Abahani, was hopeful of advancing to the final round.
`We have to win the match at any cost. We are just concentrating on the vital match,’ Amalesh said at the pre-match press conference on Friday.
Amalesh was a little bit worried as some of their important players are injured.
`We have some players suffering from injuries so it is difficult for us to win the game but we hope that the other players will take the team into the final round,’ said a confident Amalesh.
Erchim FC, who lost their last match against hosts Three Star Club on Thursday, are also hopeful that they will make the final round.
`We want to win the match against Abahani and we hope that Three Star Club will beat Power Company or play out a draw,’ said Erchim coach Batnasen.
`All four teams have an equal chance of getting into the final round and we also want to qualify,’ added Batnasen.
