Both Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are looking forward to make a new start from their own perspective when they lock horns in the second Test in Khulna from Monday.
Bangladesh will be eyeing to warp-up the series with a win over the visitors while Zimbabwe are eager to make a strong come back after going down narrowly bythree wickets in the first Test at Dhaka.
Bangladesh may have won the game, but not before sweating in the middle, as their top-order batmen made a 101-run winning target difficult by being dismissed cheaply at the start of their innings.
With the Tigers’ three-wicket down without any runs on the board, the match was hanging on the balance until skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Taijul Islam bailed out the home side.
Opener Shamsur Rahman, who remained a shadow of his own self and looks to be living on the edge with his pro-longed bad patch, the team is concerned about the batting fragility.
‘We don’t want to repeat the mistakes that we did in the first Test match,’ Shamsur said after a training session at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
‘Though we won the match inside three days, still there are areas where we did not perform according to our expectation,’ said Shamsur, adding ‘Especially our batsmen failed to score enough runs and we are looking forward to get over it,’
Zimbabwe coach Stephen Mangongo warned that they won’t allow the Tigers to have a cakewalk and with a new game staring at the corner it can provide them with the chance of making a new beginning.
‘We want to play for five days and want to make a new start from Khulna’ said Mangongo.
‘We have prepared hard for it and are looking forward to achieve our goal in the next Test match,’ said Mangongo.
