The Bangladesh Under 16 national football team will take part in the SAFF Under 16 Championship to be held in Nepal from July 20-30, it was announced by the Bangladesh Football Federation on Tuesday.
The BFF are treating the SAFF Championship as a warm-up competition for the AFC Under 16 Championship scheduled to take place in September.Bangladesh finished fourth in the inaugural edition of the SAFF Under 16 Championship in Nepal two years ago as Pakistan emerged champions and India ended as the runners-up side.
India were the initial hosts of this year’s SAFF Championship but they duly refused to organise it and as a result the South Asian Football Federation have decided to give the honour to Nepal for the second time.
