The technical evaluation committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board has urged the officials to expedite the appointment of the national coach so that he can join the team before they travel to Zimbabwe next month.
The BCB officials said they are closed to signing an agreement with their preferred candidate Stuart Law, but the process is being delayed as the Australian is still waiting for clearance from his present employers Sri Lanka.
‘We have asked the BCB officials to complete the process soon as we want the coach to accompany the team in Zimbabwe,’ said committee member Gazi Ashraf Hossain after a meeting on Wednesday.
The meeting also discussed the national team’s preparation for the tour and decided to organise at least one four-day and a few one-day warm-up matches for them against the Bangladesh ‘A’ team.
‘We have asked the grounds committee to let us know about the availability of the grounds so that we can fix the dates for the warm-up matches,’ he said.
Most of the Bangladeshi players do not have any longer version match under their belt since they last played a Test match against England in Manchester in June, 2010.
Ashraf said they are also in talks with the South African board so that the team can play a four-day match against any of their sides before landing in Harare.
Until the new coach is appointed Sarwar Imran will act as an interim coach, said Ashraf.
