The Bangladesh Football Federation in a development committee meeting on Tuesday decided to launch a countrywide talent hunt programme from September 1 in order to start its first academy in Sylhet.
The nearly two-month long programme will be divided in four phases – upazila, district, division and national level – and 60 players (30 of Under-14 and the rest of Under-18) will finally be selected and taken to the BFF academy in Sylhet in the first week of November.
A four-member team, consisting of overseas coaching staffs, will take charge of the academy who will also decide the duration of the training. However, the development committee chairman Badal Roy did not reveal the names of the staffs.
A team comprised of delegates from the ministry of sports and youth will visit the academy on August 25 to survey the development works it requires to become a complete modern academy.
‘The ministry officials will visit the place on August 25 and they promised us to finish its required development works by November so that we can start on time,’ said Badal.
