The District and Divisional Sports Organisers Association kept their faith on the combined panel led by incumbent Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin in the forthcoming elections scheduled to be held on April 30. AZM Nasir Uddin, the president of DDSOA, announced it at the Bangladesh Football Federation House on Thursday. Nasir, who is also the mayor of Chittagong City Corporation and vice-president of Bangladesh Cricket Board, denied all the rumours over their stand and cleared that they will have their full support for the combined panel till the end of the elections
‘As we are the main stakeholders of districts and divisional sports, we are always involved with the elections of different sports federation’, Nasir told the reporters during a press briefing.
‘This time, we also nominated seven candidates including the member of parliament, Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, and after observing all the matters our general secretary, Ashikur Rahman Miku declared that we will back the combined panel.
‘There is no chance to change our mind and back the other panel.’
Nasir denied that he was not involved with any initiative of understanding.
‘Understanding can happen at any time but as per as I know that there was no discussion over understanding and I want to say that I am not involved with anything like that.’
Nasir also claimed that there are no influences from the government in the BFF elections.
‘I want to say clearly that the government has little concern over the elections,’ he said adding that, ‘as per I know, the honourable prime minister has little interest over the elections and there is no command from her on the issue.
‘If she gave any commands regarding that issue, as a president of district and divisional sports organisers association and general secretary of Chittagong metro and mayor of Chittagong, I must have known that.
‘The election will be held on the scheduled date and I hope it will be a transparent one.’
Nasir also asserted that BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon is not involved with the BFF elections.
‘As I’m also a vice-president of BCB and I have talked with its president Papon Bhai, who cleared that he is not involved with the BFF elections from any level,’ Nasir said.
‘It’s usual that anyone can meet with him to discuss over various matter. Maybe a group of people met with him to discuss over BFF elections but he has no interest to interfere here.’
The districts and divisional sports organisers association may be the pivotal factor for the BFF election, as 68 out of total 134 voters are member of this association.
