The Bangladesh Football Federation is going to form a committee to find out the reasons for Bangladesh’s failure in the 10th SAFF Championship, held in Kathmandu, Nepal, officials said on Saturday. Bangladesh were eliminated from the group stage without winning a single match despite being given all facilities the team had wanted. The former champions lost to Nepal in the opening match before a heartbreaking draw with India and then a defeat against Pakistan ended their chance.
Kazi Salahuddin, president of the BFF, discussed the debacle with top two officials of the National Teams Management Committee on Saturday and instructed to form a fact-finding committee as early as possible.
Tabith Awal, a member of the NTMC, informed that they will form a committee where the coaches, footballers, BFF executive committee members and technical persons will be included.
`We will form a fact-finding committee to assess the performance of the national team at the SAFF Championship which will help us in chalking out the future plan,’ Tabith said after a meeting with the BFF president on Saturday.
`We will request the members of the executive committee, who are willing to be on the committee. Actually we want to make a long-term plan for the national team,’ he added.
Sources within the BFF confirmed that the BFF president will seek an explanation from coach Lodewijk De Kruif on Monday as to why his side failed to perform well after a two-month conditioning camp.
Tabith also informed that the BFF extended the contracts of goalkeeping coach Kees Kalk and fitness trainer Mohammet Yamali until the qualification round of the AFC Under-19 championship, which will begin on October 8 in Iraq.
