The fifth round of the JB Group Bangladesh Premier League ended with title contender Abahani Limited playing out a 1-1 draw against Brothers Union at the Shaheed Muktijoddha Rafikuddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Wednesday. After a barren first half, Nigerian forward Nkwocha Kingsley put Brothers ahead in the 54th minute before Abahani’s British playmaker Lee Andrew Tuck scored eight minutes later from a neat free-kick.
Brothers’ Mannaf Rabbi got marching orders in the 57th minute but Abahani, who saw at least three of their attempts denied by side-posts, failed to capitalise.
Abahani are now jointly in the second spot with Muktijoddha Sangshad Krira Chakra, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Society with nine points from five matches while Chittagong Abahani are on top with 11 points.
