The Bangladesh Sports Press Association honoured three organisers by handing over the Kaysar Sinha awards in a function held at the Bangabandhu Military Museum auditorium in the city on Friday.
Abahani Limited founding general secretary Harunur Rashid was awarded as the best organiser, while former Bangladesh Cricket Board president Kamal Zialu Islam was posthumously awarded for lifetime achievement.
Nasrin Sports Academy founder and the country’s first female football referee, Nasrin Akhter Baby, won the grassroots organiser award.
The award was named in memory of the BCB’s former director, the late Afzalur Rahman Sinha, popularly known as Kaisar Sinha.
The awards ceremony was organised for the first time by BSPA and members of the Sinha family, and the cover of a memoir book titled Bornil Sriti Omolin Kirti was also unveiled.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan, Kaysar Sinha’s son and BCB director Fahim Sinha, his elder brother and Acme Group managing director Mizanur Rahman Sinha, and BSPA president Sanat Babal spoke on the occasion, among others.
