BTS, a group from South Korea, became the first K-pop band to win an American Music Award. For the fourth time, they have won the award for “Favorite Pop Duo/Group,” and they are also the first recipients of the award for “Favorite K-Pop Artist.”
The boy band took up the trophy for “Favorite Social Artist” at the 2018 American Music Awards. And they made history as the first K-pop group to ever perform at a Grammys show. The popular group has been on a winning spree for five consecutive years until this year.
Despite stiff competition from acts like Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Moneskin, and One Republic, BTS has won “Favorite Pop Duo or Group” for four consecutive years already (beginning in 2019). They also took up the award for “Favorite K-Pop Artist,” beating out such heavy hitters as BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and TWICE.
