A teacher struggling to make ends meet is fighting to get her job back after she was fired for making OnlyFans content, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
Kristin MacDonald, 35, was fired after eight years as a teaching assistant in Canada when she received a letter from board officials notifying her of her dismissal.
“Your misconduct in this matter is egregious,” said the dismissal letter obtained by the media outlet and replicated by The NY Post, which included multiple reasons why MacDonald would be fired.
She did it to support her daughter
MacDonald, who told CBC she earned $1,000 CAD every two weeks, turned to OnlyFans to help support her family and young daughter. The teacher posted exclusive content on her OnlyFans account, and a slew of bikini photos on her Instagram under the pseudonym “Miss Ava James”.
MacDonald, who worked with special needs students, received an initial letter from the school district on April 28, when she was informed that she needed to remove all accounts on which she promoted explicit content or choose to be let go.
MacDonald claimed that the school used taxpayer money to access her OnlyFans content to investigate and ultimately make the decision to fire her. However, the 35-year-old is not backing down and has since been in contact with a union to help her get her job back.
“The union does not believe Kristin’s off-duty conduct violated any company policy or provisions of the collective bargaining agreement,” union representative Randy Kootte said, according to The Sun. “There have been a lot of mixed emotions about it,” MacDonald said.
“Certainly disappointment and all. But I’m also optimistic that the process is not over yet.” Indiana teacher’s similar case A former Indiana teacher was fired after a colleague reported her photos in a tiny bikini on OnlyFans to the school board.
Sarah Juree, 41, was fired from her teaching job after it was revealed she was sharing sexy selfies on OnlyFans outside of school hours. A year after her dismissal, Juree said she saw the bitter situation as a “blessing in disguise”, and claimed she made more money in her first month on OnlyFans than she did during a whole year of teaching.
