Around 3:00pm a private car hit a woman near TSC and dragged her several hundred yards around the campus, leaving her critically injured. She was immediately taken to DMCH for treatment.

“Our house is at Hajaribagh area. We were heading home from Tejgaon through the Dhaka University campus. A car hit my motorcycle in the area right between Shahbagh and TSC. We both fell off but my sister-in-law got pinned under the car that hit us. The car then dragged her all the way from there to Nilkhet and did not stop even though all of us were screaming and shouting,” Nurul Amin said.
Right after the incident, the driver tried to escape but students and pedestrians intercepted the car and caught the driver, according to witnesses.
Golam Rabbani, proctor of Dhaka University rushed to DMCH after the incident. He identified the man behind the steering wheel as former Assistant Professor Azhar Jafar Shah of International Relations department of DU.
Azhar was sacked from the university in 2018 due to his prolonged absence.
