Chhayanaut has completed the preparation for the upcoming Pahela Baishakh celebrations at the Ramna Batamul.
Considering the current political crisis, the Chhayanaut artistes will render songs highlighting the non-communal spirit along with the typical songs they sing in the Pahela Baishakh celebrations.
A total of 137 artistes will present songs and instrumentals to welcome the Bangla New Year from 6:15 am on April 14, informed the organisers at a press conference held on Sunday at the Chhayanaut Auditorium.
Vice president of Chhayanaut Dr Sarwar Ali, general secretary of the organisation Khairul Anam Shakil, head of corporate responsibility of Grameenphone Debashish Roy, among others were present at the press conference.
Dr Ali briefed the details of the event to the press. ‘Despite the ongoing political turmoil we will try to celebrate the day as colourfully as we have been doing since 1967,’ Dr Sarwar Ali said.
‘We hope people keeping the faith in their respective beliefs will join the universal celebrations of the Bengalis,’ he added.
Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will live broadcast the programme.
People across the globe can also watch the progamme at www.chhayanaut.org and www.drik.tv.
