Popular band Chirkut will perform live at the phono-live concert Close Up 1 Call-er Gaan on Desh TV at 9:45pm today an Eid-Ul-Azha special musical programme. Besides presenting its popular numbers, the band will perform in response to the viewers’ request. Earlier, the band appeared in the similar programme aired on GTV on Thursday.
‘To give the real charm of the live concerts, we will experiment and improvise on the songs. And we believe such experimentation will add more colour to rock our fans in the Eid celebrations,’ said Pintu Ghosh, lead guitarist and also a vocal of the band, told New Age.
‘And we start the show presenting our hit numbers such as Jadur Shahor, Nei Nei, Rat-er Akashey Chand and Niranondo,’ he added.
Pintu Ghosh further said that they enjoy performing in phono-live concerts, a popular programme that private TV channels air throughout the year. ‘Such shows allow us to communicate directly with our audience and get their feedback,’ Ghosh said.
Ghosh also mentioned that there are some disadvantages of performing such shows. ‘Sometimes we have to face embarrassing situation when some people call and ask questions irrelevant to our songs,’ Ghosh said.
Chirkutt is appearing in the celebrations Eid programmes just after returning from the recent Norway tour, Ghosh said.
‘Invited by Rikskonsertene Norway, we performed in six cities in Norway including Oslo, Bergen, Molde, Trondheim, Lafoten and Bodo at the end of last month,’ Ghosh said.
Sharing the experience of the Norway tour Pintu Ghosh said, ‘We are really excited as the Norwegian people enjoyed our music. Some of them showed interest to continue communication with us, especially for the different sound we create in our songs. And the expatriate Bangladeshis living in the Scandinavian country just became crazy at the concert in Trondheim, where many Bangladeshi students live.’
The current lineup of the band includes Emon on guitar and banjo, Pavel on drums and percussion, Pintu on vocal and flute), Sumi on vocal, and Rokon on bass guitar.
