Seven professional clubs appealed to the Bangladesh Football Federation on Tuesday to reschedule the closing date of the ongoing inter-club player transfer window in light of the current political situation.
Officials from Abahani Limited, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Muktijoddha, Brothers Union and Feni Soccer Club all signed the request letter and submitted it to the BFF general secretary on Tuesday.
‘Amid the unstable political situation, it is not possible for us to complete the players’ registration in the scheduled first players’ transfer window for the 2013-14 Bangladesh Premier League and we need
some more time,’ the letter said, ‘We are requesting you [the chairman of the professional football league committee] to extend the window.’
The transfer window is scheduled to close on Thursday.
‘The professional football league committee has called an emergency meeting today to discuss the request,’ BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Sohag said on Tuesday.
If the BFF decides to defer the transfer window closing date, the beginning of season’s curtain-raising Federation Cup tournament, scheduled for November 4, will also be pushed back.
