Cultural organisations will celebrate the 144th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam through an array of colourful programmes at different venues in the capital today. The programmes will feature music, dance and recitations of poems composed by the poet.
The Cultural Affairs Ministry has organised a daylong programme scheduled to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Osmani Memorial Hall in the morning. The evening session of the programme will be held at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Nazrul Academy has organised a three-day cultural programme, which began on Thursday to mark the occasion. Noted Nazrul singer Khalid Hossain and Yeasmin Mushtari have been felicitated at the programme.
Nazrul Parisad has organized a vibrant cultural programme in the afternoon at the Sawkat Osman Auditorium of the Central Public Library.
Chhayanaut Sangskritik Kendrea will organise a two-day Nazrul festival starting from tomorrow evening at its auditorium. The festival will feature group and solo presentation of Nazrul’s poems and songs that will be performed by artistes of Chhayanaut.
Channel-i has organised a fair today to celebrate the occasion. Noted Nazrul artistes of the country will present songs and dance at the fair that will be inaugurated at 11.05am.
Nazrul exponent Mostafa Zaman Abbasi will be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award at the fair dedicated to eminent Nazrul singer Feroza Begum who is presently ill. The fair includes 20 stalls displaying and selling books, CDs and souvenirs on Nazrul. At the venue, artists will paint portraits of the poet.
