Dhaka Mohamme-dan Spor-ting Club defeated Chittagong Mohamme-dan Sporting Club 3-2 in tie-breakers in the second leg of the second semifinal of Super Cup football tournament at Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city on Tuesday.
Both sides played goalless in the regulation and extra time before going into the tie-breakers and Dhaka Mohammedan players showed more accuracy in the shootout that took them to the March 27 final against arch rival Dhaka Abahani.
The match went into the extra-time to determine the team to go to the final of the super competition as Chittagong Mohammedan led the game 1-0 in the regulation 90 minutes, but the extra time also failed to separate the two teams.
Both sides struggled hard in vain in the dull and dour first half but a late goal from Ridon brought hopes in the Chittagong tent, much to the dismay of the legion of Dhaka fans.
Ridon posted the ball into the net with his long range shot on 79 minutes to bring the Chittagong side on the track after their first leg defeat.
Dhaka Mohammedan defeated Chittagong Mohammedan by a solitary goal in the first leg of the second semifinal on
March 20.
Dhaka Mohammedan’s Nigerian striker Alamu Bukola scored the all-important goal for Dhaka Mohammedan in the 89th minute in the first match.
Earlier, B. League champion Dhaka Abahani booked its final berth of the Super Cup defeating Brothers Union 3-2 on aggregates.
Abahani defeated Brothers 3-2 and drew goalless in the semifinals.
