Eid films attract scores of visitorsThree commercial films released on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr have been attracting a large number of visitors. The producers of the released films including My Name is Khan, Nihshartha Bhalobasha and Bhalobasha Ajkal also claim that they were expecting good turnovers.
New Age went for a reality check after talking to the visitors, exhibitors and production houses of the films on Tuesday.
One of the big budget films of this Eid is Badiul Alam Khokon’s My Name is Khan, produced by Anan Pictures. The film starring popular Dhallywood duo Shakib Khan and Apu Biswas is running in more than 70 cinemas across the country.
‘We have not yet calculated the profit our film has made so far. For the time being, it is suffice to say that the film is running successfully and we hope that within one month, it will earn at least twice the amount that has been invested on it’, said an official of Anan Pictures.
In the capital, the film is
being screened in cinemas like Madhumita, Rajmoni, Sony, Agomon, Jamuna, Mukti and New Gulshan.
‘Hundreds of visitors are streaming in every session to watch My Name is Khan. After a long time, the lost days of glory are reviving in the cinemas’, says Sohel Ahmed, manager of Rajmoni cinema.
‘It was an awesome movie, shot in wonderful places, with a good story’, said Nazmul, who enjoyed the film at Rajmoni cinema.
Another Shakib Khan film is Bhalobasa Ajkal, where the Dhallywood heartthrob has paired with a new debutante named Mahi. Produced by Jazz Multimedia, the film is running in around 70 cinemas across the country.
‘Bhalobasa Aajkal is doing more business than we had initially expected. I hope Bhalobasa Aajkal will be the best successful movie,’ claimed an official of Jazz Multimedia.
The film is running in cinemas like Chitramahal, Abhisar, Jonaki, Purnima, Asia, Punam, Geet and Shahin in the capital.
‘The film is attracting many visitors. The cinemas are packed’, said Arif Hossain, manager of Jonaki cinema.
‘Shakib- Mahi duo is very well-matched. I enjoyed the film’, said a delighted Rafikul Islam who watched it at Jonaki cinema.
Another big budget film during this Eid is Ananta Jalil’s Nihshartho Bhalobasa- What is Love, produced by Monsoon Films. Jalil’s first direction Nishartha Bhalobasa stars himself and Barsha.
The film is running in 35 cinemas across the country. In the capital, cinemas like Star Cineplex, Balaka, Soinik Club, Purabi, Padma, Azad, Manoshi and Mini Gulshan are screening the film.
‘In my knowledge, the film has been quite successful in its first week’s run. It will earn a good amount, I hope’, Ananta Jalil told New Age.
‘Everyday scores of movie lovers are watching the film’, said Joy, manager of Balaka cinema.
‘The film seemed like an adaptation of the real life happenings of the duo Ananta and Barsha, I found strong resemblance between the film storyline and the media reports I read’, said Mahmud Hasan who watched the film at Balaka cinema.
