Enamul’s first-half strike helped Defending champions Dhaka Abahani to keep the winning spree in the Citycell Bangladesh League as they beat Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by a lone-goal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
The victory saw the holders Abahani remained on the top of the point table with 12 points from four wins in a row, while the Muktijoddha yet to earn a point from as many matches as hey suffered four defeats at a stretch.
The match began with some good pace and both Abahani and Muktijoddha were in attacking approach to take off an upright start. Ibrahim created the first chance for Abahani when the Ghanaian produced a sublime moments of skill to take a forceful angular shot from top of the box, which hit the top corner of the side post in the very eight minute.
Muktijoddha, who looked more live than their previous matches, made the counter attack just four minutes later when their Liberian forward Eugene raced into a space down the left and timed his cross perfectly for on rushing Ghana’s Fuard Ali and Titu. But Feroz Mahmud Titu former national star failed to beat Biplob, Abahani’s goalkeeper just in one to one situation.
Abahani secured the match winner in the 17th minute through Enamul , when the national striker’s good header on a Sharif cross from inside the danger area (1-0).
Muktijoddha were unlucky not to have an equaliser when Eugene touched his head being in offside position on a Mahmudul Hassan free kick which already beat Biplob to enter into net.
However, the second half game was not expeditious as both the sides played in the first half.
Although, another Ibrahim effort was deflected when he took the chance having a cross from Ujjal in the 65th and Muktijoddha were also came closer to equalise the margin again when Titu failed to roll the ball into an empty net after a Moni free kick was fist away by custodian Biplob.
