England has proposed to play a day-night Test against Bangladesh in the upcoming home series in October, said the officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Friday.
The issue was discussed on the sideline of recent ICC meeting in Dubai, said BCB chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury, adding that they are still considering the proposal.
‘We haven’t decided anything about it,’ Chowdhury told New Age.
BCB’s cricket operation chief Akram Khan added Bangladesh are unlikely to rush the decision.
‘We can receive a lot of proposals but we will do what suits us the best,’ he said.
It was learnt that Akram on Thursday held a meeting with Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim to discuss about the possibilities about playing day-night Test match.
In November last year, New Zealand proposed Bangladesh to play a day-night Test in December 2016, though no final decision was taken in this regard so far.
Day-night Test match has become a reality when Australia hosted New Zealand for a Test match under floodlight in Adelaide in November 2015. It created some interest in other boards to play the day-night Test with the unconventional pink ball.
Bangladesh had earlier hosted a day-night longer version game in the final of the Bangladesh Cricket League in 2013.
BCB Central Zone defeated North Zone by 31 runs at Mirpur to win the game.
Officials said the BCB officials are observing the activities of other boards regarding pink-ball Test before making up their mind.
Currently, South Africa are reluctant to play a day-night Test in Australia, whose players have also expressed reservations against playing more than one day-night Test in the coming season.
Pakistan, meanwhile, are having discussions with West Indies to play a day-night Test in October this year.
England are scheduled to play two Tests and three ODIs during their October visit.
