Popular singer Fakir Alamgir is paying tribute to the victims of the Savar tragedy through releasing an audio album. The singer, who has attained popularity by rendering people’s songs, says that his album dedicated to the deceased and injured survivors of the tragedy is now in the final stage.
‘The album will contain around 10 songs and three recitations. The title will be either Savar Tragedy or Jibon Joyi Reshma,’ Alamgir told New Age.
‘The songs, written and selected so far, will focus on the Savar tragedy,’ he added.
The album includes songs on Reshma, who was rescued alive from under the rubble of Rana Plaza by the rescuers after 17 days of the building collapse on April 24.
‘There will be another song on Shahina, who could not be rescued alive even she had survived five days under the debris,’ he added. Alamgir himself has penned the lyrics for two songs of the album-ShabashKaikobadsalamKaikobadand ShunechhokiSavarerkhabar.
In addition, Tapan Bagchi has written the songs- AbardekhiDhakarpashe and Shonoshonodeshobashi. Ashek Mahmud has authoredBalirbadhermotodhoshe pore, and, ShipraGoswamy has given the lyrics for the songs- Jonmilemoritehobesobar ache jana, Kejanitoreemon moron abardebehana.
Two poems of renownedpoet Rudra Muhammad Shohidullah-Jibondiyejaniyegelamjibonondhokar and Koshterkothaboltegeletomra bolo raajniti, are also being molded into songs by Alamgir for the album. These poems had been written in 1985 whenseveral students met a tragic deathunder the rubble of a broken roof at Jagannath University.
Noted artistes including Asaduzzaman Noor, Mahidul Islam and Ahkamullah will be reciting one poem each for the album.
The songs are being composed by Alamgirand Azad Mintu. The latter is providing the overall music direction for the album.Under the banner of Laser Vision,the album is expected to be released this month.
Fakir Alamgir is mostly noted for his signature style of presenting folk and people’s songs through fusion of folk and western instruments into his compositions.
