With only eight days left till the closing of the ongoing footballers’ transfer window for the upcoming 2013-14 season, five accused players were still to find out if they will be eligible for the forthcoming season.
Zahid Hossain, Shakil Ahmed, Mamun Mia, Nahidul Islam and Shariful Islam on Tuesday appeared before the players’ status committee after Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited placed complaints against the five players who decided to join other clubs despite taking advance payment from the Motijheel outfit.
The players’ status committee decided to call upon the officials of Sheikh Russell KC and Abahani Limited where those five players were reportedly set to join.
‘All players admitted that they had taken money from Mohammedan as well as another club,’ said BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag.
‘However, there were some differences regarding their statements between two parties and the committee decided to call the officials of Sheikh Russell and Abahani before taking the final decision on those five players,’ Shohag added.
The BFF general secretary informed that they will verify the documents provided by Mohammedan over whether they had given advance money to the players before the commencement of the players’ transfer window.
