With only three days left till the end of the footballers’ transfer window for the 2013-14 season, uncertainty still surrounds five players alleged to have taken advance payments from Mohammedan Sporting Club before changing their minds. The Bangladesh Football Federation players’ status committee interviewed the players in question, as well as some club officials, in order to resolve the matter but could not come to a decision due to a lack of relevant papers.
Mohammedan are still awaiting the verdicts from the players’ status committee before taking part in the ongoing player transfer.
‘We hope that the players’ status committee will give out their judgments before the end of the player transfer window,’ Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, Mohammedan’s director in charge of administration, said on Monday.
Zahid Hossain, Shakil Ahmed, Mamun Mia and Nahidul Islam are alleged to have signed for Sheikh Russell KC after taking advance money from Mohammedan. The Motijheel outfit also claims that Shariful Islam had taken advance money from them before joining rivals Abahani Limited.
Officials from Sheikh Russell KC are also anxiously waiting for the players’ status committee to settle the issue as soon as possible.
‘We are looking forward to the initiatives supposed to be taken by the BFF in order to resolve the problem
so that we can end the formalities of the players’ registration,’ said Sheikh Russell president Nurul Alam Chowdhury.
However, the committee claimed that they don’t have all the necessary documents to reach a fair conclusion.
‘Mohammedan submitted some vouchers as proof that they gave advance money to the players, but Sheikh Russell did not submit any relevant papers so it will be difficult for us to take any decision,’ said players’ status committee chief member Abdur Rahim.
