The Bangladesh Football Federation added five players to the preliminary squad for the forthcoming UK tour, officials said on Monday.
Goalkeeper Ziaur Rahman, defender Yameen Ahmed Chowdhury Munna, midfielders Alamgir Kabir Rana and Shadedul Alam Shahed and striker Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan were added to the 29-member preliminary squad which will play two international friendlies against India and Pakistan in the first week of June in London.
They were called up as goalkeeper Maksudur Rahman Mostaq, defender Ariful Islam, defender Rezauls Islam Reza and winger Nasirul Islam Nasir have not fully recovered from their injuries and doubtful for the tour.
The squad will begin their practice from Wednesday and the Dutch coach and his assistant will arrive in Dhaka on May 18 to take charge of the national team.
Among the new players, midfielder Alamgir Kabir Rana and goalkeeper Ziaur Rahman were parts of the last national team that participated in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers in Nepal. Rana played in all three matches but he was ignored earlier for the upcoming UK mission.
Zia got the chance as goalkeeper Maksudur Rahman Mostaq, who is recovering from a groin injury, is not fully fit.
Defender Yamin Ahmed Munna, Striker Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan and midfielder Shahedul Alam were recalled for their good performances in the recently- concluded Bangladesh Premier League.
Meanwhile, two foreign-based Bangladeshi players – Reasat Khaton and Ananda Rahman – will arrive in Dhaka on May 16 and 20 respectively but Denmark-based midfielder Jamal Bhuiyan has yet to confirm his arrival date.
