Holders Dhaka Abahani rallied from one goal down to beat hosts Chittagong Mohammedan Sporting Club 2-1 in the Bangladesh League at the Cox’s Bazar stadium on Thursday.
With this win Abahani moved up to third in the league standings on seven points, while Chittagong Mohammedan are languishing in eighth position with three points they earned after defeating Feni Soccer Club.
Ariful Kabir Farhad was the hero for the local team as he put his side ahead in the 69th minute but the lead was cancelled out by the Dhaka giants’ Ghanaian recruit Ntiny Twaunu Frank in the 75th minute. Shakhawat Hossain Rony sealed the fate of the match scoring the winner just four minutes before the final whistle.
Abahani manager Satyajit Das Rupu was happy to see his side return to winning ways. ‘I am satisfied that the team finally found their rhythm forgetting the setback they suffered against Farashganj in last match. We conceded a goal at the beginning because of a mistake by goalkeeper Ziaur Rahman Zia but my boys were confident enough and created pressure on the opponents and turned the match to their favour which is a positive sign,’ said Rupu over phone.
