Hosts Bangladesh ended their AFC Under-16 Championship qualifying campaign on a sorry note when they suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat to United Arab Emirates in their last Group-D match in Dhaka on Friday.
Bangladesh began their campaign with a 5-1 defeat against Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
UAE captain Majid Rashid struck a hat-trick to give his side a comfortable win while Abdulla Alnaqbi, Sultan Saeed and Ali Saleh scored one goal apiece for the victors.
Mohammad Shawon pulled one goal back for the hosts in the second-half.
UAE utilised Bangladesh’s weaknesses in the left flank by initiating all their attacks from that side.
A blunder by defender Shawon Hossain helped UAE to open the account in the 12th minute when Abdulla Alnaqbi slide home from a cutback of Ali Khamis.
UAE skipper Majid Rashid doubled the lead six minutes later placing home in a cross of Hamad Jassim from the right.
Sultan Saeed made it 3-0 in the 22nd minute heading home following a corner of Ali Saleh.
Saleh extended the lead in the 38th minute after Khamis provided a neat pass to Saleh, who tapped home from a close range.
Shawon pulled one goal back six minutes into the second-half when the midfielder slotted home after a back pass from Sarower Zaman Nipu from the left.
Rashid completed his hat-trick by scoring two more goals in the 62nd and 68th minute.
The first one came from a penalty and the second from a brilliant free-kick from 25 yards out that sealed the crushing win.
The last Group-D match between Saudi Arabia and UAE, which is also the deciding match, will be held on Sunday at the same venue.
