Bangladesh, the host nation of the first ever SAFF Women’s Football Championship, were placed in Group A alongside SA Games champions India in the draw of the competition at the BFF House on Thursday. The other two rivals of the host team in Group A are Sri Lanka and Bhutan.
On the other hand Nepal, who finished second in the SA Games, will play Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Maldives in Group B. Two top teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The tournament will kick off on December 12 in the beach town of Cox’s Bazar. KFC, Puma and Amra Networks are sponsoring the tournament while ATN Bangla is the media partner of the event.
The officials of the BFF and the sponsoring companies were present at the draw ceremony.
