HSBC strolled into the second round of the 9th Ascent 5-a-side Corporate Football after a thumping 9-1 win over Cream & Fudge at the STM Hall of the Scholastica School on Monday. The winners needed to score at least seven goals to make it to the round of 16 and five goals from Naimul, two from Moshiur and one apiece by Ananta and Kabir were enough for them.There was also second round berth for Runner Group as they prevailed over Phillip Morris International in an 8-5 thriller. For Runner, their captain Shafiul Islam scored all the eight goals alone while his counterpart Majed bagged a hat-trick.
In the other matches of the day, Beximco Textiles and Bangla Trac drew 3-3 a lively encounter. For Beximco, Sumon Jr hit a treble while Emran Khan responded with the same for their rivals.
The match between Metlife Alico and General Electric also ended in a 3-3 draw. Kalam, Sadi and Rahin all scored a goal apiece for Metlife while Sartaj scored a brace and Arijit added another for the electrical company.
